Introduction to Single-Cell RNA-Seq Time Series and Trajectory Analysis

Introduction to Single-Cell RNA-Seq Time Series and Trajectory Analysis In-Person / Online

DISC Symposium workshop: Trajectory inference using single-cell RNA sequencing data

Date: 4/25 12-3pm

Location: Medical Education Building, 145 Harrison Ave. Boston. Room 514, or via zoom

Single-cell RNA sequencing has enabled the characterization of individual cells as well as the evolution of cell states over time. Computational methods exist to infer changes in cell transcriptional programs during processes such as organ development or disease progression, which in turn provide insights into the underlying biological mechanisms. This hybrid workshop will introduce single-cell RNA sequencing and common computational algorithms for trajectory inference as well as give participants hands on experience in reconstructing cell trajectories using single-cell RNA sequencing data and open source bioinformatics tools.

Workshop Format:

  • 12 - 1 pm : Introduction to single-cell RNA sequencing and trajectory analysis
  • 1- 3 pm: Hands on workshop, which is anticipated to take between 1-2 hours depending on experience

Prerequisites:

Participants will need a Tufts High Performance Compute (HPC) Cluster account and basic R programming experience for the hands-on analysis portion of the worksop.

  • Registrants will be automatically signed up for an HPC account. You will receive information by email on how to log on to the HPC cluster. Registration will close one week before the workshop to allow for the creation of these accounts.

  • Introductions to R/Rstudio on the HPC are available from the TTS Research Technology: https://it.tufts.edu/high-performance-computing/hpc-tutorials

This workshop is offered by the coordinators of the DISC `Omics study group. Questions about the workshop or study group can be directed to Rebecca.Batorsky@tufts.edu or Jason.Laird@tufts.edu.

Notes: users should specify if they will attend online or in-person if possible.
