Introduction to the Digital Humanities In-Person
Digital humanities brings together scholarship that uses computational methods for the study of traditional humanities disciplines, traditional humanities inquiry for the study of computation, and the use of digital publishing practices for rich, multi-modal storytelling. Digital humanities thus encompasses a wide range of topics and methods including: augmented reality and virtual reality; cultural analytics, text analysis, and AI; mapping and GIS; network analysis; digital archives and exhibits, digital storytelling, publicly engaged scholarship, digital editions, and more.
These practices enable scholars to study literature and cultural events at scale, model historical artifacts, and visualize historical events.
This workshop will give a broad introduction to the digital humanities for anyone who is interested in possibilities for their research and teaching.
